On April 13, we formally announced the opening of a Carbon Black office in Japan.
We have had a growing presence in APJ for years and staff in Japan since 2016. We made it “official” in a BIG way at our recent office launch celebration!
It’s common for foreign companies that enter the Japanese market to announce it during a large-scale event. Generally, the office launch occurs sometime after a company has established a presence in the market and has some momentum. A launch is a way of letting the local market know who we are, why we are entering Japan, and what commitments and investments we will be making.
The turnout for our event was incredible. We had nearly 70 C-Level customers and executives in attendance who heard presentations from the U.S. Commercial Councilor from the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, the VP of Security at IBM Japan, the VP MSS NTT Communications Security Japan, the CEO of Network Value Components, and, of course, a well-received presentation from our own CEO, Patrick Morley.
Patrick introduced Carbon Black, discussed endpoint security market trends, explained why Japan is important to Carbon Black, and described the investments we are making in Japan. We are very lucky to have hired an exceptional team in Japan prior to the launch and will continue to build out our team in Japan going forward. We’ll be giving our current employees a chance to develop their careers as the needs in this market develop and are looking forward to adding more talented contributors to the organization.
Japanese organizations face sophisticated attacks daily, from state-sponsored attackers to organized crime. Being the third largest economy in the world, Japan has a lot to protect and with the Tokyo 2020 Olympics fast approaching, the country is going to be in the spotlight.
The event was a tremendous success and will help us build a strong business in Japan. We are incredibly excited to be partnering with Japanese companies to help protect Japan’s critical infrastructure and intellectual property.
